Trump News 🏈 TRUMP AND NIKKI HALEY in South Carolina GOP Primary

Donald Trump secured a resounding victory over Nikki Haley in the South Carolina Republican primary, dealing a significant blow to the former governor’s already tenuous path to the nomination

As soon as the polls closed at 7 pm ET, the Associated Press declared Trump the winner, signaling a commanding triumph in Haley’s home state. Trump garnered approximately 60% of the vote, leaving Haley trailing at around 40%.

Historically, the Palmetto state’s primary results have foreshadowed the eventual party nominee, and Trump appears poised to clinch the Republican nomination well ahead of the summer convention in Milwaukee.

Addressing jubilant supporters in Columbia, Trump expressed satisfaction with the party’s unity, hailing the evening as fantastic and early. His earlier victories in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada, combined with this decisive win in South Carolina, further distance Haley from the nomination.

Undeterred by her fourth consecutive loss, Haley, speaking in Charleston, declared her commitment to staying in the race. She emphasized South Carolina’s frustration with the nation’s direction and pledged to continue her presidential bid, asserting, “I’m a woman of my word.”

In a strategic move, Haley’s campaign announced a significant national cable and digital ad buy ahead of Super Tuesday on March 5. She plans to host a rally in Michigan on Sunday and embark on a cross-country tour through several Super Tuesday states.

While Haley’s persistence has irked Trump and his allies, some of her supporters view her candidacy as a glimpse into the future of the Republican Party. Speculation swirls that the 52-year-old Haley is positioning herself for a future presidential run or as a potential second-choice candidate if circumstances prevent Trump from securing the nomination.

Despite facing 91 felony charges, mounting legal fees, and financial penalties, Trump’s legal challenges have seemingly fortified his support. His campaign has already shifted focus to the general election against Joe Biden, who is set to secure the Democratic nomination without significant opposition.

Trump, who began the day with a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, confidently predicted success in Michigan’s upcoming primary and urged supporters to prepare for the challenges ahead.

As Haley continues her determined campaign, Trump’s attention has shifted toward the general election, with a particular focus on gaining control of the Republican National Committee, which is expected to maintain neutrality in the primary contest.
